The cave city of Vardzia is located 100 km to the South of Borjomi.
The rock-cut monastery complex was created in the XII-XIII century, there are has nearly 600 premises: churches, baths, dining rooms, libraries, living cells, etc. Tunnels go as deep as 50 meters into the rock, rising up to 8 floors. The central attraction of Vardzia is the Assumption Church, which has ancient frescoes preserved its walls. Today, the Vardzia complex is a working monastery and the museum. The complex is equipped with railings, ladders, and lighting.
