One of 14 US National Seashores is Cape Cod National Seashore, established in 1961. The total area of the park is 176.5 square kilometers (68.14 square miles, or 43,607 acres), throughout which are numerous small lakes. There are also six beaches for swimming, sand dunes, lighthouses, forests, Marconi Station and a former military air-base.
