The Didrichsen Art Museum is located inside the Villa Didrichsen, which sits on the seashore, on the Kuusisaari island in Helsinki. The museum consists of two parts: the living quarters and an annex used for art exhibitions.
Two to three art exhibitions are held here per year, varying from Finnish to modern international art. Pre-Columbian and Asian collections and artwork are on permanent display. All pieces on exposition were selected and purchased jointly by Marie-Louise and Gunnar Didrichsen.
The Finnish art collection exhibits 20th century works of Edelfelt, Cawén, Schjerfbeck, Särestöniemi, Linnovaara, Hiltunen and Pullinen. In the modern international art collection there are some works by Picasso, Kandinsky, Miró, Léger, Moore, Giacometti and Arp.
Villa Didrichsen itself was designed by architect Viljo Revell in 1958-59. Six years later the art collection was housed in a new annex, connected to the villa. In the villa's garden there are sculptures such as Henry Moore’s Reclining Figure on Pedestal, Atom Piece, and Eila Hiltunen’s Crescendo with the dedication words: “In Memoriam Marie-Louise Didrichsen”.
The museum has a small coffee and a souvenir shop.
