The Temple of Apollo Hylates is an ancient sanctuary located 2,5 kilometers from the Kourion Archaeological Site in the direction of Paphos. The temple used to be one of the most important religious centres of the ancient Cyprus. It was destroyed during the earthquake in 364-365 AD.
Different parts of the complex were built in different times. Historians think that the Archaic sanctuaries were built in the VII century BC, the Ptolemaic sanctuaries - in the III BC, the Roman ones - in the I century AD. The complex also included the gymnastic school, the treasury and the central inner square. After the earthquake some of destroyed buildings were recovered.
The tickets are sold at the entrance.

The ancient city of Kourion was founded in the II century BC. Today the old amphitheatre, where concerts and perfomances take place, is recovered. The mosaic floors at the House of Eustolios are very popular among tourists. The Kourion Bay beach is located next to the ancient city.
