The Aiguille du Midi cable car has been around for more than 50 years, it is considered to be among the most famous and highest attractions of the world. The cable car takes visitors from the centre of Chamonix on a 20-minutes ride to a height of 3,777 meters, where a 360° view of the French, Swiss and Italian Alps can be experienced. A lift takes visitors up to 3,842 meters above sea level, where a view of Mont Blanc may be enjoyed from a summit terrace.
In 2013 a "step into the void" glass cage was build, which allows visitors to experience standing over a 1000 meter precipice. In 2016, a 32 meter steel gallery around the central peak of Aiguille du Midi was built and became accessible to visitors.
Paid parking can be found near the base of the cable car. Family tickets are available for sale. Children under the age of 4 ride for free.
