The Tropical Islands water park is located in 60 kilometers from Berlin and in 100 kilometers from Dresden. It it the biggest water park in Europe, which opened in 2003 in a former military hangar.
The water park is divided into several theme zones: the Tropical Forest, the Lagoon and the South Sea. Plants, fish, birds and even traditional dwellings were brought here from Thailand, Bali, Samoa and Borneo. The maximum depth of the pools in 1,35 meters.
There are the following attractions in the park:
- Water slides;
- A sand beach;
- The South Sea swimming pool with two islands;
- The Bali Lagoon pool with waterfalls;
- 2 whirlpools;
- A SPA-zone with saunas;
- Children's playgrounds;
- Volleyball playgrounds;
- Mini-golf;
- The Tropical village with cafes and restaurants;
- Gift shops.
Entertainment programmes are held here every evening; during the day children can play with animators. Is it possible to stay overnight in a bungalow or to camp.
