Where to Take Your Kids Swimming in Moscow and the Moscow Region, Russia. Moscow Beaches for Summer Vacation

Where can you take your kids swimming and sun bathing in Moscow? In our review, you will get to find out about all of the free and fee-based beaches both in Moscow and outside the city limits, including permitted swimming areas and outdoor pools for the summer of 2014. 

Permitted Swimming Zones in Moscow and the Moscow Region for the Summer of 2014 

You are allowed to go swimming and sun bathing within the city limits only in four different vacation zones: at White and Mescherskoye Lake along with beaches number 2 and 3 in Silver Woods. On the free beach at White Lake there are changing rooms, a boat rental, and a tennis court. You can also find a small, free beach with changing cabins that is located on Mescherskoye Lake. 

 

 

You can get on beaches Silver Woods 2 and Silver Woods 3 too as well. Operating on the territory of beach 2 is a miniature zoo and a kids play station and open on beach 3 are sports venues and rental shops for various accessories. What you’ll also find on these beaches are showers and changing rooms and you can get yourself a bite to eat, whatever your taste may be, at the summer restaurants and cafés on the shore of the Moscow River. 

After trying the water a second time, it is prohibited, but you can still go sun bathing on Levoberezhny Beach, Bolshoi Sadovy Pond, and in Zelenograd on Bolshoi Gorodskoy Pond and Shkolny and Black Lakes. They recommend sunbathing (but not swimming) in 28 different city vacation zones, some of which include the ponds at Gorky and Friendship Park; the reservoirs at Troparevsky and Bitsevsky Parks; Patriarshy, Novodevichy, and Kuzminsky Ponds; Kirovskaya and Strogniskaya Flood Beds; and other coastal areas (the entire list of permitted beaches is available on the Federal Service for Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare website at http://77.rospotrebnadzor.ru/index.php/san-epid/40-2009-08-20-06-08-14/2238-san-epid).

 

City Beaches of Moscow: Beaches in Moscow Parks, Paid Beaches with Equipment near Outdoor Pools 

At Sokolniki ParkThe Bassein is open every day from 10 am to 10 pm. You can go swimming in two basins, the water in the kids pool is heated, and it has a children’s slide as well. At the pay to rent station, they offer sports accessories to play beach volleyball, badminton, ping pong, Frisbee, and backgammon. The cost to visit The Bassein depends on the time you choose to visit: adult entrance costs between 400 roubles per session up to 1,700 roubles for the whole day. As for children under 12 years old, admission ranges from 150 rubles per session up to 500 roubles for the whole day. 

 

 

Open from 10 am to 10 pm on the territory of Vodny Stadium is Royal Bar Beach Club. You can hang out on a padded ottoman and on the sandy beach, you can kick back and sun bathe on one of the lounge chairs or take part in a volleyball game. There’s also a kids play station open and you can grab yourself some Japanese or Italian food at the restaurant. Entrance to Royal Bar will cost you 1,000 roubles along, including a lounge chair and towels for rent.  

Panton Open Water Pool is also available to you at North Tushino Park from 10 am until 19 pm. Also at the 20-meter loading dock, there are lounge chairs, little umbrellas, changing rooms, and showers. On top of that you can get yourself a bite to eat at the bar near the water or have a seat on one of the soft swing chairs. A three-hour visit of the pool will cost you 700 roubles on a weekday and 1,000 roubles on the weekend. Children below the age of seven are admitted free of charge. 

 

 

Open from 10 pm until 10 pm is another beach located in Fili Park. They’ve just opened up two adult pools there with a depth of 1.5 meters along with a kids pool 0.6 meters deep. The water in the basin enters through cleaning right out of the Moscow River and is heated up to 24 degrees. For parents with children, a mother-child room is available to you as well near the main entrance. Access to the pools with the lounge chairs will cost between 300 roubles for adults for a session up to 600 roubles for the whole day on weekdays and between 400 and 800 roubles respectively on the weekend. For kids an all-day ticket will cost you 300 roubles on week days and 400 tickets on the weekend. 

Unfortunately, there’s nowhere to go swimming in Gorky Park, but you can kick back and get a sun tan on the lounge chairs of a big beach near Garage Educational Center. For children, they’ve set up a kinetic sand venue and not far away from the beach is a play station with swings and slides. Entrance to the beach, the lounges chairs, and the umbrellas are provided to you for free.

Beaches of the Moscow Region: free and fee-based beaches equipped for family vacation in the Moscow Region 

You can find sandy beaches outside of Moscow at Klyazminskoye Reservoir. In Khebnikovo Recreation Zone there are two free beaches as well, one sandy and one covered in grass. On top of that, they invite you to come jump on their trampoline, play ping pong and beach volleyball, and rent a row boat or hang out spot for the whole bunch. If you decide to visit the sandy beach, you’ll find Gorky beach where they have a kids swimming zone, changing rooms, and a rental location for different kinds of boats. The nicest beach on Klyazminskoye Reservoir can be found in the Troitskoye Recreation Zone where they have water rides, a trampoline, a kids “paddling pool” with slides and a separate beach, a little zoo and a summer café, along with changing rooms and sports shops where you can rent various accessories (entrance to the beach is free; if you are taking a car, the cost will be 200 roubles). 

On the North shore of Pirogovskoye Reservoir are open-access beaches with changing rooms, a café, and kids play stations on Radost Bay and Tikhaya Bay. Malibu Entertainment Center is split up into two sections; located on the shore is a sandy beach with changing rooms, umbrellas, and lounge chairs and in the VIP-zone you can find outdoor pools, water trampolines, and a “slide soccer” field as well. Entrance to Malibu Beach ranges between 500 and 600 roubles for adults (the VIP-zone ranges between 1,000 and 1200 roubles) and children below 7 years of age are admitted free of charge. 

 

 

In Nikolino Village on the territory of Chester Ferry Restaurant, an outdoor pool is in operation in the summer time where you can go sun bathing on one of the lounge chairs and just lay down in the shade under an umbrella. You can also go fishing on the lake shore along with a boat station, a ping pong table, and an inflated trampoline for kids. 

Open on the Zhivopisnaya Bay of the Myakininskaya flood bed is Rublyevo Beach, which is accessible for a fee and covered in sand and grass. Located on the territory of the beach are changing rooms, outdoor showers, drinking fountains, and a café. For kids they’ve set up play stations and for the whole family they’ve opened up sports venues where you can rent out sports gear and a boat station. The beach is open daily form 9 am until 8 pm. The cost of admission is 150 roubles and admission to the VIP zone ranges between 400 and 500 roubles.  

 

 

Most suitable for family vacation on Istrinskyoe Reservoir is the free beach in Trusovo Village with changing rooms, a kids swimming zone, and a summer café. There are also free sandy beaches in the Moscow Region on Senyozh Lake, on the Luberetskye Pits in Dzerzhinsky, and in Volkushkinskaya Pit in Lytkarino. 

 

Outdoor Pools and Sandy Beaches at Hotels in the Moscow Region 

For those of you thinking of kicking back out of town, you might consider a hotel complex with its own sandy beach. For example, if you decide to stay at M’Istra’L Hotel & Spa, two beaches are available to you – a kids beach and an adults beach with a water trampoline and a rental location with canoes and various other boats. 

 

 

At Yakhonty Hotel, on the shore of the icy Koversha Lake are two organized beaches and an indoor aqua center. The beach at the main corpus is embellished in a tropical theme and it has its own blow-up pool, lounge chairs, and straw umbrellas. At Russian Farmstead’s beach with a sloping bottom, you can take your kids for a swim and play beach volleyball as well. The cost to visit the recreation zone on the lake shore will cost 300 roubles for adults, 150 roubles for kids between 3 and 10 years old, and for children under 3 years old it’s free of charge. Admission to the aqua center will cost you between 400 and 600 roubles for adults and between 200 and 300 roubles for children between the age of 3 and 10. 

 

 

At Avantal Club Istra located outside Moscow, a recreation zone is open called Istra Marine Bay with a sandy shore, lounge chairs, an inflatable trampoline, and water slides for the whole family. A ticket inside costs 400 roubles for adults and is free for children below 12 years old. 

Krankino Park Hotel has its own sandy beach on the lake shore (entrance to the hotel territory, according to the hotel chart, is 150 roubles on weekdays and 350 roubles on the weekend). 

You can find a sandy beach with a trampoline, a kids play center, and a volleyball venue open in the summer time at Shukolovo Vacation Resort. On top of that, the base has an outdoor pool with showers and changing rooms. Entrance to the beach for children between the age of 5 and 12 cost 100 roubles and 150 roubles to the pool and for adults entrance to the beach will cost you 150 roubles and 300 roubles to the pool (umbrella and lounge chair rental is included in the cost and entrance is free for children under 5 years old). 

At Volen Resort, they invite you to come swim in an open heated pool modeled after a sea lagoon. Next to the pool you can also sun tan on the lounge chairs, change clothes, and take and shower and in the evenings, the turn on lighting in the basin. The cost of visiting the pool ranges between 300 and 700 roubles for adults and 150 roubles and 350 roubles for children between the age of 3 and 12. Children below the age of 3 years are admitted free of charge (lounge chair and towel rental paid separately). 

 

 

Volga Shore Beach is open on the territory of Emmaus Volga Club Hotel. The sloped, sandy beach is well-suited for taking small children for a swim and they also have a closed-off “paddling pool” and a kids area. They also invite you to play beach volleyball at the hotel, go fishing, go for a boat ride, or rent out a bike. Admission to the territory costs 200 roubles according to the hotel’s chart and is free of charge for preschoolers under the age of 6. 

Open in the summer time is an outdoor pool at Novy Bereg Hotel and Yacht Club. You can sun tan on a lounge chair in the form of a yacht landing there on the sandy beach. Visiting the beach zone and the pool is free of charge for hotel residents and for everyone else the price will range between 400 and 500 roubles.
