American school of Barcelona was founded in 1963. The school offers all levels of education for children aged 3 to 18: nursery, kindergarten, primary, secondary and high school. The school has students from 45 countries. The main language of instruction is English, but children also learn Spanish, Catalan and French.
The American School in Barcelona cooperates with foreign educational institutions: exchange programs are organized with the schools of New York, as well as trips to London and Rome. Students take part in the UN international game, in national and international football, basketball, volleyball and swimming tournaments (within the framework of the Atlantic Mediterranean Activities Conference (AMAC)) and in the social projects of the school.
In many classes computers, laptops, iPad tablets, interactive whiteboards, self-recording camcorders are used. The school uses an electronic assessment system. The average final grade score at ASB is higher than the world average.
Teachers are selected (according to a dual assessment system) and are citizens of the United States. The curriculum is built on the basis of American, and meets the compulsory requirements of Spanish education. The methodology of the educational process is based on the principles of initiative, aimed at the development of children's versatile thinking and leadership skills.
