The Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, or Nuestra Señora del Pilar in Zaragoza - one of the largest churches in Spain. The statue of Our Lady of Pillar, which is housed here, attracts pilgrims from all over the world. Also the Basilica is famous for the frescoes by Francesco Goya. A panoramic view of Zaragoza opens from the tower of the basilica: the elevator is working daily.
In the Museo Pilarista at the temple there are some other works of Goya, as well as various art objects. In addition, bombs that were dropped on the building during the civil war in the 1930s are housed here. None of the bombs exploded.
Annually in autumn a festival in honor of Our Lady of Pillar, the patroness of Zaragoza, take place.
The entrance to the basilica is free, the ticket to the museum costs 2 euros.
