The Smithsonian's National Zoo occupies over 66 acres of land in the heart of Washington, inside the Rock Creek Park. The zoo is home to more than 2,000 animals of 400 species - from ants to elephants, including a family of famous giant pandas. All animals live in their natural environment (from the jungle to the local forests).
The zoo has 8 kids-friendly cafes on its territory. The National Zoo Shops offers a wide selection of gifts, books, souvenirs, clothing and more. The zoo is open year-round and entrance is free for all.
There is a paid parking (free for members of FONZ (Friends of the National Zoo). It is also possible to reserve parking online, through the Parking Panda Online service: https://www.parkingpanda.com/national-zoo-parking?ref=zoo
