In December, the Wheaton Park hosts its annual Garden of Lights festival. Before 17:00 the park is in normal operation: in the greenhouse, visitors can see tropical plants, buy birdhouses and other souveniers, enjoy the toy railroad model with moving trains, and even complete fun tasks, finding objects on the layout. The park's trails and playgrounds are free for all visitors.

After dark (at 17:30), the Brookside Garden area reopens to visitors of the Winter Lights festival. There is a fee for entering the park (charged per car), and guests of the festival get to see the park's trees, pavilions, and flowerbeds lit with thousands of colored lights. The festival is to be enjoyed by visitors on foot, who are offered to walk through a variety of bright installations.
