The Haltia Finnish Nature Centre was founded in May 2013. It is located in the Nuuksio national park in Espoo. The entire building is build of wood. The interactive exposition tells about the 39 Finnish National parks; visitors can watch videos on nature and animals on a huge panoramic screen. In the Night Walk hall it is possible to hear the sounds of nature at night-time. There is a fox den that kids can crawl into.
The Green Belt exhibition helps visitors learn about the nature, recreational areas and hiking trails in the suburbs of the Finnish capital. Maps, books, compasses and souvenirs are sold in the Nature Shop. Also visitors can have a dinner in the restaurant for 200 persons where traditional Finnish dishes are served.Children under 7 y.o. get free admission; it's also possible to buy a family ticket (1-2 adults + 1-4 kids). Visitors of the Haltia center can also see the following zones:
- The Snow Canyon, which tells about life in the snow and under it;
- The Flow, dedicated to the water cycle in nature;
- The Duck egg, which consists of 620 non-recurring elements. The egg symbolizes the beginning of life as in the "Kalevala" epic.
Opening hours: Summer (1.5-30.9) daily 9:30 - 19:00 and in winter (1.10.-30.4.) Tuesday-Sunday 9:30 - 17:00, closed on Mondays.
