The Hiidenportti National Park in the Kainuu Province near Sotkamo municipality. The park covers 45 square km of land. The park has a number of beautiful canyons, the Hiidenportti Gorge being the most impressive one. The area bears signs of the slash-and-burn farming and can be interesting from the cultural point of view. The park offers hiking and trekking trails, the Palolampi information point has a designated campfire site and cooking shelter.

The park is a home to bears, wolverines, lynx, beavers, and various. arctic birds.
