The Moominvalley Museum in Tampere was founded in 1987 and in June of 2017 if found its permanent home inside the Tampere Hall. The exposition shows more than 2000 sketches and drawings by Tove Jansson, as well as her illustrations to Lewis Carroll's and Tolkien's works. Blue five-storey Moomin House built by Tuulikki Pietilä, Pentti Eistola and Tove Jansson in 1979 for an exhibition in Bratislava is the gem of the collection. There are also a Moomin souvenir shop and a library with children's books in various languages open at the museum.
The museum regularly holds arts and crafts workshops for children, which are free for all museum visitors. Workshops can also be organized for private events, including for children's birthday parties.

The Moomin Museum in Tampere is a magical and fairytale place, and most importantly - it is an art museum. On two floors, covered with soft carpets and lit with dim lights, visitors can see the original illustrations and covers from the different editions of Tove Jansson's books. The exhibition follows the Moomin family from story to story, and it is possible to listen to excerpts from books in 5 languages (Finnish, Swedish, English, Japanese and Russian).
