The Päijänne National Park is located in the northern part of the Päijänne lake, the second largest in Finland. The lake has about 50 uninhabited islands, and a few inhabited. The park was founded in 1993, it covers 14 sq. km of territory. There are a number of walking trails in the park, spanning from 2 to 30 km long. In the winter there are cross-country skiing trails, and in the summer - a few canoeing and kayaking routes.
