The Riisitunturi National Park is surrounded by villages of Tolva, Suonnankylä, and Keski-Kitka. The park is located in a rugged terrain with many swamps and marshes. The park has the Riisitunturi Trail (29 km), which is well suited for hiking in the summer and offers marked cross-country trails in the winter.
In the summer, the park is a home to many arctic flowers, berries, and mushrooms.
