Temppeliaukio Church, also known as the Rock Church, is a Lutheran church located in the Töölö district of Helsinki, about a 10-minute walk from Kamppi.
Designed by architects Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen and completed in 1969, the church is excavated directly into solid granite, with natural rock walls forming the interior. A circular copper dome supported by concrete beams allows natural light to enter through a ring of 180 skylights.
Known for its excellent acoustics, the church is frequently used for concerts and features a pipe organ with 43 stops and 3,001 pipes. Temppeliaukio remains an active place of worship and is one of Helsinki’s most visited architectural landmarks. Entry requires a ticket, except for Museum Card holders and children. The site also includes a souvenir shop and a summer cafe.
