Batumi Botanical Garden, Georgia 190
The Batumi Botanical Garden is located 9 km from the city of Batumi, on a coastal strip between the junction of the Chakvistskali River and the Green Cape. The garden was founded in 1880 and officially opened in 1912. The total area of the park is about 108 hectares.
Numerous phytogeographic departments and sections of the garden contain a collection of 1800 taxonomic units of woody plants. Of these, 90 are of Caucasian origin, 1540 are representatives of foreign flora. The total number of species and varieties exceeds 5 000. The Botanical garden is made up of the Upper and Lower parks, the Seaside Park named after Giorgi Gabrichidze, several picnic areas with barbecue spots and pavilions, and numerous viewing platforms.
The Green Cape railway station is located near the Southern entrance to the park. On Cape Verde there is a public pebble beach with toilets, showers and a cafe. Another beach is located near the Northern entrance - on the side of the Chakvi village.
