The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden, UK 1 030
Show on map
The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Center is located in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire (40 km from London). The exhibition is designed primarily for visitors 6-12 years. In two interactive galleries they can learn about the life and travels of the writer: the first - the Boy Gallery - tells about his childhood and love for chocolate, and in the second - the Solo Gallery - about his work in The Nest or The Hut - as he called his cabinet, which kept a collection of amazing items from around the world.
In the Story Center visitors can make something with their own hands in a workshop, or listen to magical stories written by Roald Dahl - outdoors in good weather, or in Miss Honey's office if it rains. Here kids can try on different outfits and get acquainted with the heroes of the books about Matilda, Charlie and the chocolate factory and other stories.
At the entrance to the museum, each child over 5 years old receives a notebook for recording impressions - the Story Ideas Book, just like a writer. Guests of the museum can stop for coffee at the museum's Cafe Twit.
