The Viking Ship Museum is located on the Museum Island in Roskill (25 kilometers to the east from Copenhagen).
The visitors can try vikings clothes on, come on board the ship, watch films about vikings and attend exhibitions. Also there is a collection of ships in the harbour next to the museum.
On weekends blacksmith, woodcarvers and sailmaker workshops are open for kids. Also children can learn how to spell their names in runes and watch ships being built.
Every year since the 1st of May until the 30th of September the navigation season begins. In this period guests of the Museum can sail in the ship; children under 4 are not allowed at the ship.
There is a souvenir shop, a cafe and the Snekken restaurant in the museum.
