From end of April to end of September it is usually possible to visit the magnificent Bengtskär - the tallest lighthouse in the Nordics. The island welcomes families with children and, in the second half of the summer season - with dogs.
The lighthouse is situated on the southernmost island in the Archipelago Sea, 30 kilometers southwest of Hanko and 18 km to the South of the nearest village Rosala. It is possible to get to Bengtskär by boat from both Hanko and Kasnäs. Trips may be cancelled due to strong winds. The island has a cafe, a museum, a small hotel with rooms for up to 25 people, a sauna, a sheltered swimming place and the lighthouse itself. Visitors can learn about the history of Bengtskär and also take the stairs all the way to the top. In the summer months it is possible to combine the trip to Bengtskär with a visit to the Rosala Viking Center.
