Save Our Seabirds is located across the parking lot from the Mote Marine Aquarium. The Learning Center is open to the public daily from 10:00 to 17:00. Save Our Seabirds is the only organization in Southwest Florida that focuses on caring for wild birds, rescues injured birds in four counties, has a fully-functioning avian clinic, provides permanent homes for non-releasable birds, offers field trips and college internships, as well as summer camp programs.
The Wild Bird Learning Center is essentially a living museum, and it offers educational displays featuring live birds that have been injured and treated, but are unable to be returned to the wild. Visitors also learn about the various environmental risks to birds, and how to help minimize them.
The Birdwalk at Save Our Seabirds also serves a broader environmental education purpose. The fully-accredited field trips provide opportunities for outdoor, nature-based education for children of all ages.
