Located near the Keha III ring road, the Vantaankoski rapids on the Vantaa river deliver water at the rate of more than 200 m³/s at peak flow. A number of trails start at the rapids, including a 1 km long circular route partially running on duck-boards and crossing the Vantaa river twice. The area has a restaurant, and offers some picnic and fishing opportunities.

The circular route is not maintained in winter, but usually remains accessible year-round. Other trails run along the Vantaa river in both directions from the rapids, some running along the picturesque fields with historic villas, often offering clear views of the planes descending for landing at the Vantaa airport. The King's Road or Kuninkaantie - dating back to the 14th century- runs along the high bank of the Vantaa river, next to the old building of the Dahlfors file factory, and its 185-year-old dam structure. Kuninkaantie or Kungsvägen was an old postal road connecting Norway and Russia via Sweden and Finland. The road started in Bergen on the Atlantic coast, passing through both Oslo and Stockholm, crossing the Baltic sea via the Åland archipelago into Turku, and winding up in Vyborg.

There were mills in Vantaankoski as early as the 16th century and the rapids were put to industrial use with Rautaruukki ironworks beginning operations in the 1830s, and then replaced by a file factory in the 1880s. The old Vantaankoski bridge next to the factory dates back to 1876 and can still handle traffic weighing under 3.5 tons. Remnants of Stone Age settlements have been found in the area. Now the factory buildings house an atmospheric restaurant - Vanha Viilatehdas - that is open for brunches on select dates (tables need to be reserved in advanced) and can be rented for private and corporate events. Vanha Viilatehdas also has an open summer terrace overlooking the rapids. Some museum items from the Dahlfors file factory times are displayed in Vanha Viilatehdas. There are also two rentable saunas.
