Happy Children Kindergarten is an English language daycare for small groups of children aged from 1 to 7 in Ruskeasuo. The curriculum is based on the Finnish Early Childhood Education and Care by City of Helsinki.
It is an international and multicultural center, with the staff striving to provide a cosy and home-like environment for the children. Happy Children Kindergarten has a private playground, an indoor gym, multiple play rooms, wooden double decker beds for daytime naps and rest, a reading center, and a full facility children's' bathroom.
The program focuses on enhancing the children's linguistic skills, abilities and identities, helping them master various forms of self-expression: bodily, verbal, visual and musical. Kids learn to contemplate the past, present and future of the local community as part of the "Me and My Community" section, exploring and interacting with the local environment. Other areas of focus are mathematical thinking and technology education, growth and development, physical activity, nutrition education, health and safety.
Parents are viewed as partners on this developmental journey. The Kindergarten spaces are planned with comfort, interest, safety and creativity in mind. The staff are committed to cultivating a well-balanced learning environment.
The center observes and follows the Covid safety protocols for daycare as mandated by City of Helsinki. Attending the kindergarten does not require children to have any prior knowledge of the English language. The center's qualified educators are native English speakers or fluent in the language. There are also have bilingual educators who speak Finnish and English to assist children when needed. Through the process of familiarization, the staff seek to ensure that each child feels safe and surrounded by people who genuinely care.
The center opened in 2021.
