The Örö Island presents a cross-section of the history of coastal defence in Southwestern Finland and offers a splendid opportunities to spend one or a few days for families with children in a quiet and beautiful place. Dogs are allowed on the island, but not on all trails.

The island offers two circular trails, each calling for a separate hiking day with kids. Visitors can see various artillery batteries, rocks, birds, coastal defence structures, seals, and cows. There are different lodging opportunities on the island, a bike rental service, and a cozy cafe-restaurant that sell snacks, drinks, and lunch.

It is possible to get to the Örö Island by a regular ferry service from Kasnäs.
