The National Museum of Denmark opened in 1807. Temporary exhibitions are held at the museum. There are also permanent exhibitions: the Prehistoric Denmark, Middle Ages and classic revibration in Denmark, the history of Denmark since 1660 until 2000, the collection of ancient things from the Mediterranean and the Middle East, the Nations of the Earth ethnographic collection, the Royal collection of coins and the Children Museum.
In the Children Museum visitors can try old children costumes on the Granny's Wardrobe exhibition, enter the Grandfather's classroom, copied from the classroom of 1920th, and step on the deck of the vikings' ship.
The entrance to the museum is free.
