The Rovaniemi Local History Museum is located in a wealthy farm, aged over one hundred years. The museum's collection is made of the rural dwellers' artefacts from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. The farmers' traditional trades were fishing, cattle-rearing, hunting, and reindeer husbandry. The empire-style main building from the 1840's stands in its original location and has been furnished in traditional local rural style. The museum is only open in the summer, please check the working hours on the official website. Traditional holidays and fairs are held at the museum a few times per season.
